Mirai is a new establishment when we moved my grandma into the home. All the facilities were new and the furniture and equipment were well furnished. The home was spacious, airy with good ventilation, and is bright and gets good lighting when I visited, which I thought were important factors. Equipment common with the care and support of elderly, such as beds similar to those in hospitals, fitness/strength-training equipment, and shower/toilet commodes, to name a few, are available at Mirai, which assured me that the home was set up with the care needed to provide to their residents. An electrical stairlift is also present for residents staying on the upper levels of the establishment. The home is well-maintained, with a good level of cleanliness adhered to within my expectation. Mirai has a relatively young team of staff, a mix of locals and foreigners. After speaking with the management and observing first hand the staff member’s dedication, hearing them communicate in Mandarin and Malay to the residents (so no language barrier), the calmness and patience shown, and how the staff provides care towards my grandma and other residents, I was confident that my grandma was in good and safe hands. I was assured that there will be members of staff able to communicate with my grandma so there is no misunderstanding or for her to feel lonely due to not being able to be understood if she does communicate for any needs or help. What impressed me was the medical attention that was given, in terms of understanding my grandma’s medical history, the types of support available in getting her better, and the management of her daily medication. The staff members provides due diligence in sending me daily updates of my grandma’s well-being and also reminders when necessities and medications are running low. I am also assured that support is available for medical or doctor appointments if necessary. These comprehensive support towards my grandma’s medical needs are factors that I have come to appreciate Mirai, for the trust and professionalism displayed. In particular, I was assured of the promptness in the handling and management of several covid infections instances, my grandma being one of them, and how family members are informed and that visitations halted until confirmation that the situation is cleared and suitable to be resumed. Aside from the infrastructure and medical/health factors that contributed to my decision on selecting Mirai, residents are also encouraged to participate in daily morning exercises and bonding activities. Various major festivities are also observed such as CNY, Hari Raya, Christmas and even the resident’s birthday - the staff assisted in celebrating my grandma’s birthday and it was indeed very heartwarming. The management spares no effort in ensuring that the likes and dislikes of their residents are noted, and as much as possible to extend these acts of kindness and joy to them. I believe that Mirai has a lot to offer to those looking for a professional and meticulous nursing home for their love ones. My mother-in-law was a formal resident in this home and she passed on recently due to her old age and illness. I was very impressed with high standard of care provided by the staff. The empathy, compassion, attitude and awareness given by all levels in the home was exceptional. The home is constantly supervised by their Directors and most importantly, their Nurse Manager, Joy. Having spoken to Joy, I realised that she is very well trained, very proficient and had great nursing experience. She had work in Melbourne for many years in oncology. Therefore, she shows great interest in patient care and always providing valuable guidance to her staff. This nursing home is very clean and spacious. It is definitely a very good choice for a recommendation. Thank you to the Directors, Nursing Manager, Carers/Aids, Cook and Cleaner. My aunt, who is very sick, and in need of palliative care, has been staying at Mirai Residence for 2 weeks. My aunt, and the residents here, are cared for by a team of caring and capable staff, who are led by Mirai’s lead nurse, Joy. The home is clean, airy, and very pleasant. It’s unlike the traditional old folks home, this is more like a beautiful home stay. The owners are also very caring and hands on. Having been exposed to a lot of old folks homes in Johor Bahru, like Alda Home, Anzaletta, Jasper Lodge, Mirai Residence is definitely the best. Highly recommended!
